Country can’t afford political instability: Taseer
LAHORE: The country can no longer afford political instability, Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer said on Monday. He said both Houses of parliament, including the provincial assemblies, had elected President Asif Ali Zardari with a two-thirds majority. Taseer said the president represented the federation, adding conspiracies against democracy would not succeed. He said Pakistan was passing through a critical phase, adding patriotic and democratic political parties would never encourage terrorism. He said now was not a time for point scoring. He said the Pakistan Army was in a state of war and the country could not afford new political adventures. staff report
